We’re a team of world-class scientists, conservators, technical art historians, provenance researchers, machine learning engineers and imaging specialists.

What brings us together is a shared belief — that in a world full of guesswork, evidence matters.

We analyze artworks from the ground up: materials, methods, construction, provenance. Every expert on our team brings something different to the table — and it’s that blend of disciplines that provides the full picture.

Whether it's resolving long-standing doubts or verifying major discoveries, we bring the same level of rigor to every case. No shortcuts. No ambiguity. Just answers that hold up — in scholarship, in court, and in the art market.

Our management team:

Denis Moiseev
CEO

With an academic background in art history (MA, Birkbeck, University of London) and extensive experience researching and attributing artworks for galleries and museums, Denis brings deep insight into the challenges of authentication—particularly in cases involving sophisticated forgeries. In 2018, he founded Hephaestus with the aim of eliminating forgery and misattribution in the art market. Pioneering the use of technologies such as AI-based brushstroke analysis and the integration of machine learning into scientific workflows, Hephaestus joined forces with ArtDiscovery in 2024.

Research isn’t a side project. It’s our edge.
20% of our lab time goes into original research — developing new methods, mapping artist-specific techniques, and building the datasets that keep us a step ahead. Forgers evolve. So do we.
