ArtDiscovery works closely with conservators to ensure the long-term preservation of works of art. We provide critical information to help conservators assess and plan repairs – some via inherent vice and others via external damage. We also assist in the exacting work of conservation and restoration, providing technical imaging, materials analysis and technical art history as required. Our experts are qualified conservators themselves, enabling us to support conservation in informed and effective ways.
ArtDiscovery’s state-of-the-art laboratories are able to identify a wide range of materials, both original and those added later in restorations or repairs. We are also able to analyze products of deterioration, explore stratigraphy and provide technical imaging to illustrate condition or support a conservation treatment.
